For some time now, I have been in a creative low of some sorts. It seems I have extreme difficulties to get excited about any ideas I have for this little 'coffee talk' section of mine. I started taking pictures with my phone of random things I liked, hoping that some sort of inspiration-muse would kiss me.
Today I've been wandering around Ikea and saw a lamp I really want to buy. But not before the big move. (yes, I'm moving... But more on that at a later point in time)
And a rug, that I personally would never buy, but I liked the colours a lot.
And of course there was some real coffee talk involved in all of the strolling-around-Ikea, Because where would the fun be in that if not going with a friend.
A cappuccino is always a great idea!
But no great inspiration so far. Do you know that feeling?

A weekend in Berlin ... again
We just spent another weekend in Berlin. And this time we took things really slow. Slept in, had lazy breakfasts and epxplored the city with mostly no plan as to where we were going. And it was fun. Even though the weather didn't really play its part we saw some sun.
When we arrived Friday afternoon we went for some coffee and ice cream at Amorino on Kurfürstendamm. I knew what I was getting into, but every time I have their ice cream, I am pleasantly surprised at how good it is.

My Summer.
As promised, I’m going to let you know everything there is to know about my summer.
This is an unusual post for me, I know. But I’m staying at home right now and am not cooking that much. My mom is a better cook. And she doesn’t really like to divert control in the kitchen :)
And I found out that some family members living in Texas found this Blog totally by chance… How awesome is that?
So this does not include a recipe, though I might talk a little about food ;)
This summer was absolutely great.
I mean it.

Summer is almost over...
… ah well, let’s face it.
Summer is definitively over. We are just experiencing the last beautiful sunny days, that become rarer and shorter and -honestly- colder way too fast.
Summer is definitively over. We are just experiencing the last beautiful sunny days, that become rarer and shorter and -honestly- colder way too fast.
I love summer and the complete change in peoples attitude you can notice during those warm, long days of hanging out at the lake with friends, barbecuing and just enjoying the lazy vacation days.
But there is definitively something to be said about fall as well. The colours are beautiful. I love the seasonal fruits and vegetables. Do I even have to talk about curling up on the couch with a good book, a hot cup of tea or hot chocolate and a cozy blanket?
What about the rain, you ask. Well, I grew up in a region with a lot of rain, so I don’t mind that at all. Sometimes it actually sends a ‘homey’ feeling in my direction. I know this sounds wierd, but that is just the way it is.
But I’m getting off topic here. I wanted to tell you about another reason to get excited this fall.

Spring cleaning
Hi!
I'm in such a good mood lately, that I decided to change around the look of my little blog. The sun has finally made its way here - along with the warm temperatures to match.
Do you notice how people are always smiling as soon as spring has finally arrived?? I just really like this time of year.
I know I haven't been around in a while but moving, re-organising and university just got the better part of me.
Of course I didn't stop cooking, but I just did not take any pictures.
Well, 'any' is not entirely true - I took a few shots with my phone in some really bad light - but I'm still going to show you, because two dishes were actually pretty good and I'm not sure when I'll get around to cooking them again.
The first recipe is coming tomorrow :)
I hope you don't mind. If you do -
just check back in one week or two :)

Hello ...
... It's me :)
I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about this blog...
I just have been very busy with, well, life.
Moving, painting, unpacking boxes and a short weekend-trip.
But I will be back very soon!

Bloglovin'
I've been reading a lot about Bloglovin' on the blogs I follow because come June 1st Google will take down their reader.
I like the Google reader - I love its simplicity.
I don't really understand why they are taking it down, might have something to do with Google+... but they are doing it, so I had to look for a new way to keep up with the blogs I love to read.
Enter Bloglovin'.
Everyone kept mentioning it, so I decided to give it a try.
I signed up - they actually help with the transition from Google reader - and a few seconds later I was ready to
So if you haven't found a platform yet, I suggest you take a look :)
.. and maybe follow my Blog with Bloglovin'

Meal planning - Part 2
The first
week of meal planning is over.
And as you
can see we had to rearrange our plan a lot.
But it was
nice to not have to go grocery shopping every few days and only eat pasta once
this past week. (I know that sounds bad, but we are students... and sometimes
eat really late... and sometimes we are way too lazy to cook)
This past week we ate better and our fridge was way more organized! Sunday, 10 March 2013
To plan or not to plan...
I’m one of
the people out there who likes to make plans, not the one-day-I’ll-do-that-type
of plan, but the tasks, social events, the occasional fitness activities etc
for the upcoming week.
(When I’m studying I plan every single day,
sometimes on a post-it, but I like having a schedule to stick to... but that is
not the point)
So when I read this post about meal planning on Friday
I decided to try that. (I alos read a post on that here)
I sat down
and thought about recipes I’ve been wanting to try for a while now.
I tried to
come up with a diverse list, but also make some ingredients match, so that the
groceries won’t go to waste. (Say, buying different types of cheese for a
Quiche but then don't use the leftover cheese in anything else)
So here is
what I came up with for a few days in advance:
And for the
first day I followed through.
I went grocery shopping, got everything I need
for the weekend and most of the items on my shopping list for the upcoming
week.
Made the
Bolognese, took pictures (I’ll post the recipe soon)... oh yes, I was proud! J
And Saturday?
I was looking forward to making the salmon. But after a great breakfast we
decided to go to a jazz festival that evening.
So the dinner plan was cancelled... not cancelled - but delayed.
Let’s see
how the week turns out... meal-plan-wise!
I'll keep you posted.

Hey ... it's me
I know that
I haven’t been around lately, but I was sick so there was not that much
happening culinary-wise.
The only
thing worth mentioning was an evening at a sushi restaurant in Dresden.
We went Saturday
night which is one of their all-you-can-eat nights. (big mistake)
We were
seated at the running sushi line and had 1,5 hours to eat... and we ate – way too
much. But I blame the running line. If there wouldn’t have been one plate
filled with various delicious types of sushi after another coming our way – we might
have stopped eating after 40 minutes or so.
The
The last
time I felt that ‘full’ was Christmas, yes that is a compliment... I know it
sounds weird but I don’t overeat unless the food is really very good.
I am not
sure if the Shou Sushi is the best place for sushi in Dresden, but it was very
good and the interior was nice. The tables at the running line are supposed to
be for four people but we were five and it was fine.
It was not
the very best sushi I've ever had, but it was good and the prices were
student-budget friendly.
All in all, it was a fun (thanks to the company), delicious evening and I would go there again.

Audience
...so I was checking my blog statistics the other day - for no particular reason - just because google provides them and I was über-surprised (I'm German so I can actually pull a belivable 'über') to see some traffic.
Any traffic would have surprised me, because I was certain that my readers were my brother, other family and maybe a few friends, who knew about this blog. (And I haven't really talked about it at all...)
But it turns out I get traffic from other countries as well... So now I'm contemplating writing in english to turn the 'traffic' into readers...
I started this blog as a birthday gift to my brother -originally on tumblr- but I'm sure he wouldn't mind me writing in english... or would he?
Maybe I could start by writing a few post and see where that takes me.
I also wanted to apologize about the blog being down from time to time over the last (and next) couple of days. I'm changing a few things around, so this would feel more like me.
Have a great day :)

Berlin, Berlin
Also ein sehr gelungenes Wochenende.

Zumindest was diesen Trip angeht.

Also unbedingt ansehen!!

Happy Thanksgiving!
